Kadhai Handwo. Handvo (or Handwa) has been one of the most requested recipes and we just had to oblige. It is a Gujarati recipe for an all-time favorite snack. Handva can be served at tea time and in India, tea-time can be anytime - morning, afternoon or evening!
So you don't have to have some special utensils to make this Hanvdo. Can be served with tea or simply eat itself with chutneys. Next, take the bowl of fermented handvo batter and add grated bottle gourd, ginger paste, a little oil, green chilli paste, and a little turmeric powder. You can cook Kadhai Handwo using 18 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you achieve it.
Ingredients of Kadhai Handwo
- Prepare of rice.
- It's of split chickpea.
- It's of split pigeon pea.
- You need of yellow split gram.
- It's of sour curd.
- You need of ginger garlic chilli paste.
- You need of red chilli powder.
- You need of turmeric powder.
- It's of Salt.
- Prepare of baking soda.
- Prepare of grated green veggies (bottle gourd, carrot, onion, cabbage.
- You need of chopped leafy greens (spinach, fenugreek, coriander).
- It's of sweet corn coarse paste.
- It's of oil.
- It's of white sesame seeds.
- It's of mustard and cumin seeds.
- Prepare of dry red chillies.
- Prepare of asafoetida.
Handvo is a delicious savory baked snack made from mixed lentils & rice. Handvo is a staple Gujarati snack made in many Gujarati homes. Handvo being prepared in special cooker. Handvo ( Gujarati: હાંડવો) is a vegetable cake originating from Gujarat, India.
Kadhai Handwo instructions
- Take a bowl.add in rice and all grams. Wash twice with water. Add fresh water and soak overnight. Next day drain off the waster and make coarse paste in mixer jar. Do not add much water while grinding.batter should be thick. Add 1/4 tsp salt and mix well. Cover and allow to ferment for 6-7 hours..
- After fermentation add ginger, garlic, chilli paste. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and mix well..
- Add in all grated veggies, chopped leafy greens and sweet corn paste. Mix well. Add baking soda and mix well..
- Heat non-stick kadhai. Add 2 tbsp oil. Add mustard cumin seeds, White sesame seeds and dry red chilli. Add asafoetida and pour half batter. Cover with lid and cook for 5-6 minutes or until golden brown. Flip the handwo and cook on other side for 4-5 minutes uncovered..
- Now make handwa with rest half batter. Serve hot with ketchup..
